Following on with Safer Internet Day, here is some information talking about the uses of social media, how it can be both positive and negative while also looking in to the consequences of too much social media and offering tips on how to stay safe when using social media.
Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people, and to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically, and creatively. Safer Internet Day 2025 will take place on the 11th of February 2025, with celebrations and learning based around the theme ‘ Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online ‘ Safer Internet Day is the UK’s biggest celebration of online safety.
From BC to AD LGBT+ people have existed, the Students union is going to highlight the incredible things LGBT+ people in all our diversity have achieved throughout history in all areas of life while also exploring the theme for 2025 which is Activism and Social Change.
Black History Month is celebrated each year in February in America and Canada and October in the UK, this month is used to remember moments in history, achievements and contributions that have been made by black people. To commemorate this event the Students' Union is going to talk about some of the key influences of this event and talk about the people that made Black History Month the celebration that it is today. For this month we are going to look at the key historical American figures that began the tradition of Black History Month.
