What is Chinese New Year?
Chinese New Year is celebrated much like our own New Year, as it represents the start of a new annual calendar. However, the Chinese New Year is based off the lunar calendar, and because of this it falls on different days of the year. This year it falls on the 12th February, and commences the year of the ox!
How can you celebrate Chinese New Year?
Traditionally, people celebrate this event by hanging red lanterns, eating food, wearing special clothes and lighting fireworks. Unfortunately, due to COVID many formal events have been cancelled this year so we've tried to include resources here, to help you celebrate this tradition at home.
