In the UK, October marks the beginning of Black History Month. This national celebration aims to promote and celebrate the contributions of those with African and Caribbean heritage to British society and to foster an understanding of Black history in general.

Windrush 75th Anniversary Talk

Levi grew up in a small village in Clarendon, Jamaica with his grandma who shared her love for Caribbean food with him, while his parents worked hard in England to be able to slowly move their children to England. When he was older Levi invented the recipe for Reggae Reggae Sauce and became well known after his appearance on Dragon’s Den. International Slavery Museum - Liverpool

On Thursday 5th October, limited students from Travel and Tourism, Uniformed Protective Services and Filming, will be heading to Liverpool with Sabbatical Officer, Carrie Lee to hear the untold stories of enslaved people and learn about historical and contemporary slavery. 
Our fantastic film students will be capturing footage throughout the day, ready to bring what we have learnt back to B&FC.

House of Wingz are hosting a two day event to celebrate the heritage and culture of our African and Caribbean communities ????
Cultivating roots: A Black excellence showcase ???? ???? ????????

In partenership with Blackpool Council and led by our young steering group, the two day event will take place at House of Wingz on:
Friday 27th October 5-9pm
Saturday 28th October 12-5pm
The two day extravaganza will host a mix of themed sessions, lectures, videos and activities as well as traditional Caribbean family games, dance sessions, battles and social dance with a range of music and samples of Caribbean and West African food. The Friday event is an open event with mixed activities with the Saturday event focussing on dance.
